“Monica is thoughtful, compassionate and highly skilled at working with young children. She approaches each child as an individual and learns about who they are and where they are emotionally and developmentally so that she can best facilitate their learning. This school is going to be amazing!"

Happy Together Preschool Staff
Monica Haddad
The founder and director of Happy Together Preschool (htP), Monica has a Child Development Site Supervisor Permit as well as a Bilingual-Cultural and Linguistic Teaching Credential. She has worked with children for her whole career, spending the most time as a Spanish-bilingual teacher for lower-elementary students. She has experience in both private and public preschool settings, and is the proud mother of an eight-year-old son.

Monica is excited to bring her fluency in Spanish, knowledge of Nonviolent Communication, and budding interest in the science of happiness, to her work with children. Her biggest influences in the field of child-development are Bev Bos and Alfie Kohn, and her favorite children's book author is Dr. Seuss.

Timothy Silk
Co-founder and husband to Monica, Tim works behind the scenes to ensure that htP's day-to-day operations run smoothly. He works on administrative tasks, oversees the maintenance of the facility, and acts as a teacher's aid. Tim has experience in starting and running a community-oriented business from his work as a co-founder of Arizmendi Bakery, a worker-owned cooperative.

Tim loves to share his interests in science (including the science of happiness) and mediation with children. He particularly enjoys teaching an emergent curriculum, and is consistently inspired by the subjects children choose to explore. Tim has a teaching credential and has worked with children for the majority of his working life. He is currently pursuing his Child Development Site Supervisor Permit. Tim has also been a practitioner of Nonviolent Communication for the last 8 years, and is the creator of the East Bay Men's NVC Support Group.
